AKB48 Team 8 members share their honest feelings in the new segment “Right now, I want to ◯◯!”
In the twenty-fourth installment, the participating members are Yokoyama Yui (Aomori Prefecture) and Sato Nanami (Iwate Prefecture)
As a reward for Sato winning “LoGiRL Prego Special”, these two appeared on “Nanami ga Yaraneba Dare ga yaru!”, so let’s have them share their impressions of the program with a special interview on the theme “Each other’s good points”!
Q: What was your impression of the special program?
A: “The Tohoku members really are like a family”
Yokoyama: Today I meant to keep it a secret from Nanami but I accidentally spoiled it, but we shared a dressing room! There was only a single curtain as a partition.
Sato: We were right next to each other, right?
Yokoyama: Yui arrived first, so when Nanami got there I tried staying so quiet as not to make a single sound.
Sato: I didn’t notice at all! I was singing to myself, did you hear it?
Yokoyama: I didn’t hear anything.
Sato: I see, good… When I tried leaving the room the staff asked me “Where are you going?” I thought that was kind of weird, but thinking about it now it probably looked like I was trying to avoid you.
----Please tell us your thoughts today when Yokoyama-san appeared on the set?
Sato: I was super relieved!
Yokoyama: Really? I kind of thought you made a face like you were thinking “I can do this by myself, you know.”
Sato: Not at all! I’m a boke so I’m a lot more interesting when I have a tsukkomi.
----Yokoyama-san, how did you feel when you entered the set?
Yokoyama: It was really hard to resist going out there. The staff kept saying “We have surprise guests! Who could it be?”, and Nanami kept saying “Yamada! Yamada!”
Sato: Sorry! I didn’t think they’d bring in Yokoyui. But you were totally a lifesaver.
Yokoyama: We’re both Tohoku members so we often share rooms and talk about everything. So today we were able to talk naturally again, huh.
Sato: Yes, yes! Like always you were able to be a tsukkomi to whenever I got distracted. Somehow, it felt like we’re family members how we talk to each other.
----The bond between Tohoku members is strong.
Sato: We’ve always been together since we entered Team 8.
Yokoyama: Everyone gets along great. We’re always together, so it really feels like a family when everyone’s gathered.
Q: Yokoyama Yui’s “Your good point I want to talk about”
A: Being the mood maker
Yokoyama: The other Tohoku members and I were talking before. We all agreed “When Nanami isn’t around, the atmosphere is totally different.”
Sato: As I expected?
Yokoyama: Don’t just say that like you expected it! When we stayed at the hotel for Team 8’s Fukushima performance, Nanami wasn’t there and we couldn’t get as excited as we normally do. Usually at hotels Nanami is the one saying things like “Hey let’s have a pillow fight!” or “Let’s go to the hot springs!” so we’re able to all have fun together. As we all thought you’re really the mood maker.
Sato: If I can be with everyone then I can definitely be happy. Everyone looks so happy when they talk to Nanami, so it’s fun.
Yokoyama: The ability to make anyone smile is amazing.
Sato: Isn’t it~?
Yokoyama: What did I just say about saying things like that like you expected it?
Sato: Well what sort of reaction should I have?
Yokoyama: At least try to be a little humble.
Sato: Don’t say things like that! … something like that?
Q: Sato Nanami’s “Your good point I want to talk about”
A: Seriousness
Sato: Among the Tohoku members, the older ones of us are unexpectedly carefree.
Yokoyama: Seriously! Why can’t you all be more like Yui and Hijiri? I can teach you how to.
Sato: Yeah. Age doesn’t really matter in Tohoku.
----So is Yokoyama-san always a reliable person.
Yokoyama: By reliable do you mean damn serious?
Sato: There really is… a “Serious Yokoyama” image.
Yokoyama: I have no idea what you’re talking about!
Sato: During lessons you’re the one who separates everyone into their positions.
Yokoyama: Well when it’s just the Tohoku members I’ll take initiative.
---When you stay at a hotel together, are you the one always checking to make sure no one oversleeps?
Yokoyama: I always have to go and wake everyone up. None of them can get up on their own.
Sato: But recently I was able to get up by myself!
Yokoyama: You’re like the demon of being late though.
Sato: No… I do just barely get places on time though, really I’ve never actually been late I promise!
Yokoyama Yui’s Secret Report: “I cut my hair extensions”
I was thinking that I wanted to get hair extensions so that my hair would all be the same length. So I got longer hair and everyone told me “You look mature” so I was really happy, but I couldn’t concentrate while dancing because it kept getting in my face. I couldn’t take it any longer and cut it short. I think I’ll keep it short for a while!
Sato Nanami’s Secret Report: “Time flies when you’re having fun”
It was decided that I’d get my own episode and I worried, wondering “Will everyone watch me?” I sent out mobile mails, and wrote blogs, and many other things trying to get the word out saying “Please watch.”
Mliky (former NMB48 Watanabe Miyuki) even watched the program, so it was a good chance for me to study. Before the program started I thought it would be painful, but it was actually really fun and ended before I knew it.
Of course, I will be looking forward to a possible episode 2 ( ? ) and refine my MC in preparation!
