Nogizaka PV Explanation
Recording:
The main focus relies on the deep meaning behind the drama scenes, with the intent of projecting the interior look such as Kagura hall (Japanese Shrine) and Noh-play stage performance, recorded at the back of Mount Fuji.
The recording began in the end of Sept, at Yamanashi, Shizuoka prefecture, although they had to postpone and delay the recording due to typhoon. In order to readjust the situation of the scene, staff had decided to make artificial rain even on sunny days.
Costumes:
Based on the similar concept of Nogizaka46’s second album “Sorezore no Isu”, song entitled “Kikkake”, costumes have been divided into red and blue contrasting colors. As for the drama scenes, sky blue and crimson red costumes that looked like shrine maidens were also used to differentiate between human and “thorn humans”.
Thorn humans:
棘人, Kazumin initially read it as Togejin (but it’s pronounced as Shi-jin or Kikkujin) can be defined as follows:
1) A person who is agonized or suffering in pain.
2) A person who calls himself/herself this term when his/her parents have left this world.
In the opening scene, the explanation for these 2 terms are shown:
[棘刀式]身体に鋭いトゲを持つ人々「棘人」のトゲを切り落とす伝統儀式
Thorn-removal ceremony
Those who possess sharp thorns in their body,
“Shijin”’s thorn shall be removed in a traditional form of ceremony.
[人と棘人]両者の代表がひと月の稽古期間を経て式日を迎える
Humans and Shijin
Two representatives from each side shall undergo training period through a single month
Until the day of the ceremony
Behind the Scenes:
While it could be seen as complicated on setting up their roles, Naachan has no particular objections but felt that she has been given too much screentime feature. And she personally believed that her position should be Maiyan instead of her. Just that “shi-jin”’s team would be more interesting if it was the “3 musketeers” in Nogizaka.
(Maiyan, Sayuringo and Nanamin are actually called the 3 musketeers of Nogizaka46)
Naachan felt the Music Video leaves a lot of room for questions behind for the viewers, such as the setting, her long peek through the shoji (sliding door), and thorns growing out from both hands.
