Advantage? Don’t know. There have been studies done on the affects of impact sports and bowleggedness and invariably there is some correlation with sport and bowleggedness. Whether that correlation is greater than the population at large, I don’t know.
There is a generally accepted thought that soccer players tend to get bowlegs. This is due to the activity of kicking - it develops the muscles in one area of your legs which shortens the muscle length. As muscle pulls on bone, there will be a tendency (particularly in those kids who play from a young age while their bodies are still developing) for the pull of those muscles to create an imbalance and cause the legs to “bow”.
Whether or not this is an advantage or disadvantage, I don’t know. I don’t know of any studies that could conclusively prove this one way or the other because advantage in sport is due to so many other factors besides bowlegs.
