" Calm with Bernardo , he still wants to come and nothing has changed , nobody from Bernardo's entourage called to tell Barcelona that there will be no transfer . >>
As recently as last week, he told ESPN: “I have been open with (City) and they know what I want. It’s a big club and they don’t want players who are not happy at the club. They always say to all of us that if you’re not happy, you can go.”
But the past few days have brought a softening in Bernardo’s position and an apparent willingness to forget about a move, at least for the coming season. Despite their interest, Barcelona have not made a firm offer. Rather than spend the next fortnight in limbo, Bernardo is now understood to be focusing firmly on the season ahead in Manchester.
There is no sense of resignation on the player’s part. There might be some bemusement that once again Barcelona’s overtures have not coalesced into a concrete bid, but there is also positivity about the idea of another season challenging for the club game’s biggest prizes with City. Some at the Etihad believe he might even be open to discussing an extension to his contract, which runs until the end of the 2024-25 season.
